HP Color LaserJet Flow MFP M880 and HP Color LaserJet M855 - Replace the tray 2-X rollers

Introduction

This document provides the procedures to remove and replace the Tray 2-X rollers for the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M855 and HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M880.

Before you begin

  • Use the table below to identify the correct kit part number for your product, and then go to www.hp.com/buy/parts to order the kit.

Required tools

  • No special tools are required to install this kit.

caution:

Do not touch the surface of the replacement rollers. Skin oils deposited on the rollers might cause paper pickup problems.

Step 1 - Remove the Tray 2 Rollers

  1. Do the following:

    1. Turn off the product.

    2. Disconnect the power cord.

      warning:

      To avoid damage to the product, turn the product off, wait five seconds, and then remove the power cord before attempting to service the product.

  2. Remove Tray 2.

  3. Locate the rollers inside the tray cavity.

  4. Pinch the tab on the end of the knurled roller, and then remove the roller. Repeat the process for the upper smooth roller and then the lower smooth roller, in that order.

Step 2 - Remove the 1x500-Sheet Feeder, 3x500-Sheet Feeder, or HCI Rollers

  1. Identify whether an additional high-capacity input device is installed on the product.

Remove the 1x500-Sheet Feeder Rollers

  1. Remove Tray 3.

  2. Locate the rollers inside the tray cavity.

  3. Pinch the tab on the end of the knurled roller, and then remove the roller. Repeat the process for the upper smooth roller and then the lower smooth roller, in that order.

Remove the 3x500-Sheet Feeder Rollers

  1. Remove Tray 3, Tray 4, and Tray 5..

  2. Locate the rollers inside the tray cavities.

  3. Pinch the tab on the end of the knurled roller, and then remove the roller. Repeat the process for the upper smooth roller and then the lower smooth roller, in that order.

Remove the HCI Rollers

  1. Open Tray 4 and Tray 5, and then remove the paper.

  2. Release the tray locks for both trays.

  3. Remove the trays.

  4. Locate the rollers inside the tray cavities.

  5. Pinch the tab on the end of the knurled roller, and then remove the roller. Repeat the process for the upper smooth roller and then the lower smooth roller, in that order.

Step 3 - Unpack the Replacement Tray 2-X Rollers

Unpack the replacement Tray 2–X rollers from the packaging.

note:

HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective rollers.

Step 4 - Install the Replacement Tray 2 Rollers

  1. Do the following:

    1. Slide a smooth roller onto the lower-right shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place. Repeat the process for the roller on the upper shaft.

    2. Slide the knurled roller onto the upper-left shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place.

  2. Reinstall the tray.

Step 5 - Install the Replacement 1x500-Sheet Feeder, 3x500-Sheet Feeder, or HCI Rollers

  1. Identify whether an additional high-capacity input device is installed on the product.

  1. Do the following:

    1. Slide a smooth roller onto the lower-right shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place. Repeat the process for the roller on the upper shaft.

    2. Slide the knurled roller onto the upper-left shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place.

  2. Reinstall the tray.

Install the Replacement 3x500-Sheet Feeder Rollers

  1. Do the following:

    1. Slide a smooth roller onto the lower-right shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place. Repeat the process for the roller on the upper shaft.

    2. Slide the knurled roller onto the upper-left shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place.

  2. Reinstall the trays.

Install the Replacement HCI Rollers

  1. Do the following:

    1. Slide a smooth roller onto the lower-right shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place. Repeat the process for the roller on the upper shaft.

    2. Slide the knurled roller onto the upper-left shaft. Make certain the roller clicks into place.

  2. Reinstall the trays.

  3. Load paper in the trays, and then close the trays.

Step 6 - Complete the Installation Process

  1. Do the following:

    1. Plug in the power cord.

    2. Turn on the product.
